Rotary on TV!

Rotary Watches made its TV debut on new show, Extreme Chocolate Makers, Thursday 2nd May on channel 4 at 17:30pm.

Extreme Chocolate Makers hit TV screens Easter Bank holiday Monday, with an action, fun packed, ten episode chocolate extravaganza. The new series follows chocolatiers from around the UK as they tackle tricky builds and complicated commissions in an attempt to deliver a little bit of chocolate heaven.

Rotary commissioned one of the shows ten chocolatiers, Paul Wayne Gregory. One of the most recognised talents that Paul has, is his ability to manipulate chocolate to create artistic masterpieces. Paul has created custom chocolate art that mimics both human form, machines, paintings and abstract art.

In anticipation of Rotary’s 125 year milestone birthday next year, Paul was tasked with creating a giant sized chocolate replica of a Greenwich timepiece, Rotary’s popular, intricate skeleton dial watch. The giant chocolate watch is the show stopping piece un-veiled at an event preceding the 125 year celebrations to take place in 2020. In addition to the giant chocolate masterpiece, Paul also produced chocolate life size replicas of a Rotary Oxford dial & case for the team to sample and delight over during the event celebrations.

“I was honoured when Rotary watches asked me to recreate a giant chocolate watch for its celebration event. A 40kg chocolate watch of this proportion would usually take a month to construct, the time frame was tight at just a week but I did it. I was really pleased with the end result, it’s amazing what you can achieve when you put your mind to it” says Paul Wayne Gregory.

“Considering the watch is crafted out of chocolate, Paul has created a delicious version of our intricate skeleton dial timepiece from the Greenwich collection. I cannot believe that at ‘fifteen’ times bigger than the original, Paul has still managed to portray the essence of the watch, job well done!” says Matthew O’Neill, Head of Design, Rotary Watches.

We would like to thank everyone who helped bring this creation to life, especially Paul for his dedication and expert craftsmanship.
